More Info
Launched in 1904, the annual Huntington Beach 4th of July celebration now attracts over 500,000 attendees. It includes a 5K "Surf City Run," a parade, carnival, live music, and fireworks over the pier; amongst many other local events–including a logo contest. The theme for the 2023 celebration was "Surf, City, Soul." Growing up roller skating in Huntington Beach, my initial idea for the logo involved Lady Liberty on roller skates. However, inspired by the iconic "Nude Dude" surfer statue that has been located near the pier since 1976, the design (rightly) changed to our Lady "hitting the lip" on a surfboard.
